In late summer or early autumn of this year, Google will introduce its new smartphones Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. Today, the Internet has revealed new data on the characteristics of these long-awaited vehicles, which talk about two models.
Earlier it was reported that Google is preparing just three “pixel” second-generation smartphone, but as a result, it was decided to abandon the medium size device, and now the whole world expects only Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, code-named Walleye and Taimen, respectively. The older model is said to be able to boast a 5.99-inch screen with an OLED matrix and a Quad HD or 2K resolution, so it will be larger than its predecessor.
Together with the screen, the mobile phone will receive 4 GB of RAM, the “bare” Android 8, the Qualcomm 835 processor and built-in 128 GB memory in the basic version. Also mentioned are the glass case and the headphone input.
The younger Google Pixel 2 is rumored to be a 4.97-inch smartphone with large screen frames and a resolution of only Full HD. Input under the headphones will not, but install a pair of front speakers.
The speaker volume is slightly higher than the average (using the amplifier TFA9891), the quality is very good: without wheezing, overloading. The speaker produces medium and high frequencies, with low devices cannot cope, up to LG G6 and Huawei P10, alas, far.
As a DAC in Google Pixel 2 applies Qualcomm WCD9335. To the sound in the headphones there are no complaints: the average user will be satisfied.
From the names of gadgets, it’s easy to guess that one smartphone is smaller and the other is bigger. The first has acquired a screen of 5 inches, the second – 5.5 inches. The other characteristics are plus or minus the same. From the interesting: the latest operating system Google Android 8, a powerful but not the top Qualcomm chipset at the moment, one of the best cameras on the mobile market (judging by the DxOMark rating, where the device scored 89 points, topping the table).
When I first saw the Pixel 2 XL and took it in my hand, the first thing that came to mind: a big, thick and somewhat awkward looking device. Of course, the tastes do not argue, so I express my point of view. Large, because the height is 154 mm (diagonal screen 5.5 inches). For example, LG G4 with the same diagonal has a height of 148 mm, Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge – 150 mm, Meizu Pro 7 with a diagonal of 5.7 inches only 1 mm higher. That is, the height of the Pixel 2 XL is roughly comparable to the not-so-compact Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
